The proposals aim to bring new life and activity to the ground floor of the site, with around 4,500sqm of space proposed for a varied mix of shops, cafés, restaurants and other food and drink uses. These spaces would create active frontages that complement the proposed new areas of public realm, helping to create a welcoming and vibrant destination throughout the day and into the evening.

The retail and food and drink offer would form an important part of the wider public realm proposals, creating places to meet, spend time and move through the area. Together, these improvements would help strengthen connections between the site and other parts of the city centre, including other developments as part of the Council’s Central Heart Vision. Contributing towards the city’s wider aspirations for urban linear parks and greener, more attractive pedestrian routes, the mix of uses will help make this part of the city centre a lively and enjoyable place for residents, workers and visitors.
